Cornice Board Reupholstery in Hilton Head Island, SC

A cornice board is usually the last thing in a room to get updated, and it is often the fastest way to make the room feel current. If the board itself is still sound, we can recover it in a new fabric.

When it makes sense to recover a cornice board

Cornice boards hold up well. The fabric on them is what dates a room. Customers usually bring theirs in when:

  • The fabric is faded, dusty, or worn along the edges
  • The pattern no longer suits the room after new paint, furniture, or flooring
  • Furniture has been reupholstered and the window treatment no longer matches
  • A house has changed hands and the cornices came with it

Recovering the board you already have costs less than starting over, and it keeps the size and shape that already fit your windows.

What this service covers

We recover cornice boards you bring to the shop. If your project also needs new boards built or hung at the window, tell us when you ask for a quote and we will be straight with you about what we can take on.

  • Cornice board in a bright floral print above shuttered windows on a deep teal wall
  • Corner cornice board with a scalloped edge in a pink and green floral print above rose curtains

Cornice boards we have recovered

  • Cornice boards running across a wide living room window wall
  • Woven-textured cornice board above a dining room window
  • Woven cornice board above a pair of tall windows

Choosing the fabric

A cornice sits high on the wall and reads as a block of pattern, so a print that looks busy on a small sample can look right on a cornice, and a subtle texture can disappear. It helps to look at fabric with the rest of the room in mind: the sofa, the chairs, the cushions, the wall color.

You can browse upholstery fabrics in our shop and we will talk through how each one is likely to look once it is wrapped over a board. If you are updating furniture at the same time, see furniture reupholstery and custom headboards, since the same fabric often ties a bedroom or living room together.

Yes. Bring a cushion, a photo, or a fabric sample from the piece you want to coordinate with, and we will look at options together.
